      Thanks!! I have to give God the credit for my attitude, I’m incredibly blessed :) If you watch my other videos you’ll see that I eventually had open heart surgery to place an epicardial pacemaker system. This Micra pacemaker didn’t work for me plus it didn’t resolve any of my SVC blockage. During open heart surgery they harvested a vein from my leg and used that to enlarge my existing SVC.

    Thanks for sharing, Cindy. I had labrum tear / microfracture / impingement surgery 6 weeks ago and I'm still in so much pain. doesn't really hurt to walk but it just hurts constantly 24/7... like a toothache pain constantly in the backside of my hip area. intense dull pain. Did you have any pain during your recovery, and if so how long did it take to go away? Did you do a lot of bicycling during your PT every day?

    • @CindyHeigl
      @CindyHeigl 3 месяца назад

      It was painful, but much less painful than before surgery. Like you described, an intense ache. I did quite a bit of cycling because that’s all I could do for a while, but I don’t think I started that part of PT till after 6 weeks. I couldn’t put any weight on it for the first 6 weeks, I didn’t walk without crutches till then. It was most painful when I overdid it in PT. I’m sorry to hear you’re aching 24/7. It is a really humbling and difficult recovery. But it does get better ❤️. Have you been able to stretch your piraformus? That was really tight and troublesome for me causing pain in my upper glutes. My PT would have to stretch it and work on it manually because I didn’t have enough mobility to do it myself.

      @@CindyHeigl Thank you for the quick reply? It's crazy that there is so many different beliefs with different surgeons. How are you doing now?

      @@mickeyjames7806 Yes, there are a lot of different protocols. I did prehab for 16 weeks before surgery too, I think that helped a lot. It’s been over 5 years for both hips, I have hip pain maybe 2 times a month now if I walk too much, walking makes me more sore than running ironically. I was probably 80% better after 9 months. I am now 95% better and that’s as close to normal as I expect to ever get, which I am thrilled with :)

    I got one on my birthday at 0 days old in 1989. I never thought about sharing a visit like this :D I tend to forget that it is a "big thing" to get such a device into your body. I routinely helped newcomers battle their worries - when they were all freaked out by the procedure - when I was longterm in the heart department due to endocarditis. They usually get calm from just wathcing me and hearing my story. All life with pacemaker, 35 years and it has practically never held me back.

    Why is it bad laying down?

    • @CindyHeigl
      @CindyHeigl 4 месяца назад

      My vein is blocked with scar tissue so blood doesn’t easily flow/return through that vein. When I lay flat and gravity isn’t helping the blood flow, it can’t get past the scar tissue. Which then exacerbates the blockage symptoms like my face turning purple, veins protruding, face swelling, headaches, shortness of breath, brain fog, vision issues, etc.

    Hello, Cindy hope you are doing well, I am about to having the leadless pacemake installed 10/30/23. I have been looking into the matter and Micra suggest if the device needs to be removed that the person who removes it has done it before. At 47(2017) I had heart failure and AFIB, RF was 21% Doc told me to go for walks and drop some LBS. My wife and I walk 4 to 6 miles several times a week and RF got to 52%. Had cryoablation twice and cured the AFIB, was hoping to get off the meds, Doc had a 2 week heart monitor test and they found and AV block. At 54 I am hoping to live many more years, They are telling me between 9 and 17 years for the battery life, sounds a little optimistic. Take care and be safe.

    Thank you so much for sharing this!!!! I'm in the hospital, and they discovered that I have SVCS ,too, from a blood clot in my SVC that has apparently been here for ages - thanks to an old port-a-cath. I have a bunch of things, including SLE (aka Lupus), Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (another autoimmune disorder), and this one cases me to have "sticky" blood and clot a lot. So despite being on a blood thinner this whole time, it apparently failed, and now, I have a BIG BOI clot with its own vascular structure. It broke off some chunks, and they caused some PE (clots in my lungs), which is how I came to be in the hospital this time. That's also how they ended up figuring out the SVCS. I have insane new veins that quite literally popped up on me - my face (especially my R cheek, eyelid, and temple) and BIG ones on my abdomen and my breasts(both to some degree, the R side being worse) and my chest area, etc. I've been pestering my GP for about a year now about the one on my abdomen, as it's getting bigger and bumpier.... and I HAD noticed my face being discolored and SWOLLEN, esp under my eyes, when I woke up (despite sleeping with my head raised slightly). I thought that was from my kidneys, though, as I also have lupus nephritis. My GP ordered an ultrasound of my abdomen, which obvs showed nothing, as the clot/blockage is in my neck, but didn't do anything else. I think it's awesome that you are helping to show people (medical pros or not) what this looks like! I copied you, and did a video to see, and I get extra veiny in my face, turn purple, too, etc... which I didn't fully realize the scope of until now! Thank you again for sharing your video! Is your SVCS from the pacemaker(s)? As mentioned, mine are from my port (which, in case you don't already know, is an implanted "hub" (hence the name "port" lol) that they access for IVs, labs, etc.

    • @CindyHeigl

      Alyssa, you have so much going on, God bless you! Yes, my SVC obstruction was from scar tissue around my pacemaker wires. I have EDS, Ehlers Danyos Syndrome, which is a connective tissue disorder. It affects people differently. I have extra thick scar tissue and I make significantly more of it than most people. I made scar tissue around the pacemaker wire going into my heart, and that’s how I made my SVCO. I pray your clot resolves! I am going to check out your video :)

      @@minicomponentsystemsofthe9208 It is very odd that walking makes my hips more sore than running, but it makes sense with the mechanics of walking/running. Someone else could explain it better, but walking shifts your weight from one side to the other shifting your pelvis, and running keeps your pelvis more level and the transition from one foot to the other is less pronounced. Hope that makes sense! God bless and good luck with your surgery! Patience during recovery and not overdoing it are the hardest parts. They told me about the risks, this was the second time I have had a laser lead extraction. Because of the risks I would not have this surgery at just any facility, which is why I traveled all the way to Cleveland clinic from the Chicago area. The risk is that the vein is punctured or ruptures during extraction which requires an emergency open heart surgery to find and stop the bleeding. The wires they removed during this surgery were nearly 6 years old. The first laser lead extraction I had in 2014 were for wires placed in 2001. Hope this helps!

      @@CindyHeigl I read 4% of these surgeries go wrong and end up with someone dying because of it. I find this number to be huge and it makes me scared to do it. Thanks for the fast response.
